Abhorrent Decimation Gains Jackson & EVH Endorsement
It’s been just over a year since Abhorrent Decimation released their critically acclaimed, self released debut Miasmic Mutation. Having finished writing the follow up, the bands guitarists Ross McLennan and William Cooke have gained endorsement from Jackson Guitars and EVH Amplification. Freshly kitted out, the pair have entered the studio to track the sophomore release, coming out via Prosthetic Records in 2017.
“I’ve been an official Jackson artist for just over a year but a lifetime fan. Probably stemming from my childhood days collecting posters of Marty Friedman and Phil Collen, etc. comments Ross McLennan. “For the last run of Abhorrent Decimation shows I was using an ‘Army Drab’ DK2M with Seymour Duncans. It’s beyond a shred machine, lightweight and durable too. Perfect when it’s paired up with my EVH 5150 III. But for the new Abhorrent Decimation record we all made a conscious decision to move to a lower tuning, which suits the direction and sound of the new material. So with this in mind the fantastic team at Jackson hooked me up with a Jackson SLATHX-3 7 (maple fretboard). Which is perfect for our sound and I’m loving the Seymour Duncan Sentient and Nazgul – proper feisty tones and different to the typical choice of pick ups for this style of music.”

William Cooke adds, “I’ve been a massive fan of Jackson Guitars since I started playing. The first electric guitar I ever owned was a Jackson RX10D cut off flying V. So it’s incredible to say I’ll now be using them exclusively in Abhorrent Decimation. I went for the SLATHX-3 7 and could not be happier. This guitar just looks beautiful, it has a really solid build quality. The 26.5″ scale neck copes with the lower/drop tuning amazingly well and the string tension is absolutely great. Using the Seymour Duncan Sentient and Nazgul combo has been refreshing as they both have a great aggressive sound. Combined with my EVH 5150 III the tone is tight, powerful and exactly what I’m after. I could not be happier with this set up.”
The band will be releasing recording and album updates via social media as well as announcing a run of UK dates for February 2017. Keep updated via any of the below links…
